Wakako Oshima
Founder, ASTERI GROUP Corp.
Legal Executive | Strategic Advisor

　With over 20 years of experience across multinational corporations, entrepreneurship, government, and international collaboration, Wakako Oshima draws on her legal expertise to advise senior executives and business teams on matters involving business operations, corporate governance, and organizational challenges.

　In multinational corporations, she has been involved in establishing legal and governance functions, post-merger integration, new business launches, and cross-functional projects.

　Since founding ASTERI GROUP Corp., she has advanced international collaboration involving businesses, government bodies, universities, and overseas partners.

　At Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she worked on legal and policy advisory matters relating to international trade, as well as interministerial coordination.

　Her strength lies in building trust among stakeholders with different perspectives and areas of expertise, clarifying complex issues, and translating shared objectives into actionable initiatives.

　Combining Legal × Advisory experience, she seeks to create sustainable value through collaboration across organizational and sectoral boundaries.

Professional Experience & Activities

【International & Corporate Legal Experience】

　Admitted to practice law in Washington, D.C. and Virginia, USA.

　Following her experience at a Washington, D.C.-based law firm specializing in World Trade Organization (WTO) matters and at the Tokyo office of Shearman & Sterling, she held legal positions at multinational corporations, including The Walt Disney Japan, GE International and Alcatel-Lucent Japan (now Nokia), serving as head of legal at several companies.

【Entrepreneurship & International Collaboration】

　Founded ASTERI GROUP Corp., advancing initiatives related to sustainable business and international collaboration with businesses, government bodies, universities and overseas partners.

　Participated in the 7th class of Think of Tomorrow's Business Management, a program organized by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Network Japan, engaging with Japanese business leaders on corporate social responsibility and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

　Served as a panelist at the WTO Public Forum and delivered lectures and presentations in Japan and internationally on trade and sustainability, including:

• SDGs and International Trade for the Next Generation
• Global Trade and Sustainability: A Vision for the Next 100 Years

　Contributed to international exchange initiatives associated with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Host Town program, working with local governments, foreign embassies and overseas athletic delegations.

　Secretariat member of an initiative promoting Japanese culture internationally, supporting the overseas promotion of traditional Japanese martial arts and cultural heritage, as well as international cultural exchange.

【Government Experience】

　Served as a Deputy Director at the International Trade Division, Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, providing legal and policy advisory support on international trade matters and coordinating with relevant government ministries.
